help!

I have a presentation and I am supposed to be a slave owner form the south! What do you think I would have to say about the ratification of the constitution???? ahhhhhh- if any one answers mme, i'll love them! :D

You would say you're not to keen on that there constitution 'cause it frings on yer state's rights and 'em yanks wan'in' take yer slaves 'way.

No, seriously. Slave owners were uneasy about the ratification of the constitution because of the fear that it would affect their ownership of slaves, since most slave owners were economically dependent on having their slaves. The Constitution contained a clause which said that congress could not restrict slave importation until twenty years (? not exactly sure on the number there) after the constitution was ratified. This was so that slave states would be a little less hestitant.
