Ah yes, the time has come for students to start freaking out. Don't worry, you're not alone. So here's the deal with studying from here:

1. Read the parts of the book that you haven't yet- which should be the chapters at the end of the book.

2. Look over your notes for the year- this is why I said to keep a good notebook. I hope all your notes are easy to read and understand and most importantly find.

3. Use a review book for quick summaries of topics- faster than re-reading the entire book and should be done while reading your notes for optimum study time. Sometimes teachers and book have different opinions.

4. Take practice tests- sit down and take practice tests timing yourself. On the collegeboard site there are several FRQ's and DBQ's with scoring guides that are helpful and some review books come complete with a multiple choice section. Remember you don't need 90% or higher to get a five, but usually it's around 60-70.

5. Don't cram it all in at once, you do still have some time left. So study a bit each day and you'll get through it. I suggest you make it so you don't have to study the night of exams- you're going to be stressed enough as it is.

6. Don't stress- contradictory to human behavior it's important that you try to stay as calm as possible. When you stress it just makes everything go slower and you make more mistakes that you have to go back and correct. I realize that around this time there's all sorts of things going on- projects, standardized tests, college stuff, tons of school work, etc. - but you need to stay focused and semi-relaxed. I suggest taking a few minutes out of your day to do something fun that exercise your brain. Play a videogame, play solitare, read a chapter of a fun book, play a sport for fun, take a shower, have a snack, etc. Everyone needs a break now and then.

7. Sleep- pulling all nighters once in awhile is okay (granted they do take some getting used to, and are generally not recommended) but what your body needs is sleep. If you're sleep deprived- getting 1-4 hours of sleep every night when you're used to 6-8 or more - then you're body can't function correctly even if it appears to be. This adds to stress and inhibits you ability to study well and even do work well. So get some sleep and your body will thank you for it.

8. Change it up- sometimes we get to the point where nothing makes sense. We've all been there where your eyes follow the page, but the words don't enter your brain or when you read something 5 times and you still don't know what it says. That's when it's time to change it up. Move on to a different subject or even take a mini-break. If you're completely bogged down and can't concentrate on anything get a drink or a snack or splash some water on your face or even take a 5 minute power nap. You might even take 15-30 minutes to do something fun or easy and mind clearing. This gives you a break so you can come back and maybe look at it differently so that it makes some sense. Besides, it's no use studying if you're not getting anything out of it.

9. EAT- Okay, I know it's may seem like strange advice telling you to eat, but I know from experience that when you get rushed and stressed you sometimes forget about eating all together. Make sure you eat a healthy amount and you may want to get in the habit of carrying a snack or two in your back pack like granola bars or maybe even a candy bar or two. It's important to keep your blood sugar at a healthy level to increase brain flow or something like that. But it helps you stay focused, so don't forget to eat!

10. Stay hydrated- I'd get in the habit of carrying around a water bottle. Staying hydrated keeps you healthy and a healthy body means better study conditions. So drink up!

I think that's all I got for you right now. And check out this thread where I gave some advice about preparing for the AP test and tips for what to do the day of the test: AP Exam Tips

GOOD LUCK!!!

Also, as far as review books go, I found the "Fast Track to the Five" book extremely helpful. I read it at least twice, highlighting/thinking about each section as I went. I got a 5.

It is easy to get to confused with the multiple review books out there, but this one really has all the essential information/tips you need.

Also, I would recommend reading the book, Fast Track to a Five 'US History'. I read it at least twice through, highlighting as I went, and it helped tremendously. I got a 5. It really works. It can get really confusing with so many review books out there, but this one is perfect.
