Articles of confederation compared to the constitution... Who Cares?

I really do not see how any of this is relevant to finishing this course. I can see understanding them, but why take it to the level of compare and contrast? Any help..

It's important to understand how some governments fail and other succeed. The Continental Congress couldn't tax, raise an army, or any of that, so it was totally powerless and couldn't meet the needs of its citizens. The Constitution that replaced it addressed all the needs of the citizenry, plus made it adaptable in case they needed to make changes later. We have the oldest written constitution in the world, if I do recall correctly.

Look for differences in....
How much power Congress holds
Power to raise a military
Power to tax
Process for amending
Process for passing laws
