HEY I'm new and I just have one question...
I am really having some problems comprehending this essay question
- In what ways did the colony of New Netherland have a historical-geographical relation to its neighboring middle colonies similar to the one Massachusetts Bay had to the other New England colonies, and in what ways were the relations different
ANY type of input would be greatly appreciated...

Well, I personally suggest a four paragraph essay. There's nothing wrong with having four paragraphs instead of five. I would do it in one the these two ways:
Have one body paragraph about the similarties between the two relationships and one about the differences.
Have one describing one relationship and another describing the other, pointing out similarities and differences among them.
Or I suppose you could do a five paragraph one with one paragraph describing one, one describing the other, and a third explaining the differences and similarities. I don't particularly like doing it that way, but hey, you do what you want.

thanks (that helps a lot) but my main question was on the answer to that question...I have no idea where it is. I've gone through the whole chapter many time and I still can't find it...

Ok, we can't tell you the answer to that question....at all. Your job is basically to compare and contrast the colony to it's neighbors...
I'll leave the 'open' status of this thread to someone else more....leinent than I. Asking for an answer generally makes me stop reading and just close the thread....

If you're looking for where your textbook compares the two, you're never going to find it. AP is all about using the information you have and comparing it with something else or explaining how that information relates to other events. You're gonna have to find information about one, and then find some information about the other, and make all the comparisons yourself. I found information on both in like 45 seconds, so you should find it. If you're confused about the Massachusetts Bay, just look for Anne Hutchinson.

The trick to this one is a Venn diagram (or triagram, I guess). Just compare and contrast the three. Another good guide to comparing with AP History (any of them) is called a PERSIA chart. Political, Economic, Religious, Social, Intellictual, Artistic.

I'll be honest, I never used either of those things entire time in AP History. I kinda wish I thought of it sometimes though.

I never really took my APUSH essays seriously enough to do a venn diagram or a persia chart. I did do outlines though, for everything, especially dbq's. Of course, I also got a 2 on the exam....I'm not very good at name dropping, and I freely admit it.

Well, I never used those either, but I was one of those freaks who could see it in their head...

Introduction - > How they are Similar - > Differences -> Conclusion = Done.
If you are looking for how they are similar and different I'm not going to help you. That is the joy of learning. I remember there was an essay question like this on my AP exam, it involved a very arcane knowledge of the colonies so don't think something like this won't ever come up again.
What the heck is a persia chart anyway?
And PG I'm with you, all I'd ever do was outline essays and DBQs.
