Help with Amer. Pag. vocab Ch. 1 PLEASE

I'm having particular trouble with a few deffinitions, getting a good understandable deffinition. If anyone could give me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated.

-Joint stock company
-Interregnum
-Restoration Period and Colonies

I have a basic idea, but I could use some elaboration.

Thanks.

What definitions do you have, if we know what definitions you have, it's easier to elaborate on them.

Well, for joint stock company all I have from my packet is "the ancestor to modern corporaton". I'm mainly wondering how exactley a joint stock company works.

And nevermind the other ones now, I've gotten those.

I'm in the same class as the starter of this thread we are working together over the phone...the books we have are pieces of schlock. The way the joint stock companies are explained is REALLY BADLY DONE. We wanna know how they work so we can have a good comprehension of them.

Joint Stock Company - A company made up of a group of shareholders. Each shareholder contributes some money to the company and receives some share of the company's profits and debts.

If you don't know anything, always give wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org) a try, it has almost everything, and is very elaborate for most things.
