1. the british parliament had the "political" control over them, imposed the taxes, etc.
ex. intolerable acts i think..there was an act passed to control trade specifically, i cant remember it tho... just any acts parliament passed to control Americas trade really
they were:
2. the colonists boycotted the acts and had been starting to make do with what they had and not needing other imports to survive..
3. they smuggled goods in like crazy... maybe tie in salutary neglect
