I think it's pretty much that they provided them with food and that there was war between the colonists and the Indians. Check around page 30 in the section "Cultural Clash in the Chesapeake" for more info on the wars and such. In the section before at the end it mentions that the colonists faced famine and disease, so the indians definitely helped with the famine part, teaching them how to plant and what not. If you still need more help, post again.
