Alright, let's break this down.

First, let's find the time period.

Quote:Analyze the responses of Franklin D. Roosevelts administration to the problems of the Great Depression. How effective were these responses? How did they change the role of the federal government?

Alright, so we are looking at the Great Depression itself. So you don't need to know about after the Great Depression for this question.

Alright, now let's look at the question itself.
Quote:Analyze the responses of Franklin D. Roosevelts administrationto the problems of the Great Depression. How effective were these responses? How did they change the role of the federal government?
Alright, they want us to talk about FDR in terms of his actions during the Great Depression. The questions after this sentence are simply directing you on what path they want you to take.

First, identify what FDR did. Did he sit back and let the country fix itself? Did he get in there with the people and work? Did he help them? What did he do?

Once you figure this out, let's go to the next part of the question.

Quote:How effective were these responses?
What FDR did, was it effective? Did they work? Did they help?
Quote:How did they change the role of the federal government?
Compare the president's and government's roles/actions before the Great Depression. Were they "hands on" or "hands off?" Etc... Now look at during the Great Depression. "Hands on" or "hands off?" etc..

Hope that helps, if you need anything else, let me know.

here's some of FDR's alphabet government agencies and some of his actions that you should look up (sorry im too lazy to put their functions and i might not remeber some of it so you should still look into the period)

-National Banking Holiday (banking act)
-CCC-Civilian Conservation Corps
-PWA-Public Works Act
-WPA-Works Progress Administration
-FERA- federal emergency relief agency
-Glass-steagle Act
-Truth in Securities Act
-TVA- Tennesse Valley Administration
-Social Security Act

sorry that's all i remember from the top of my head but im sure there's more. remember to separate them into FDR's three R's: relief, recovery and reform
