Debate Stock Issues These are the "stock issues" of Debate. Win these, win the round. 1. Inherency- What is happening right now (the status quo). Is the plan already happening? etc. 2. Harms- What is wrong with the status quo? 3. Solvency- Will the plan fix the harms of the status quo? 5. Advantages- What will the net gains of the plan be? 6. Topicality- Does the plan fit within the wording of the resolution? For example: if the Resolution is ?The United States Federal Government should substantially increase social services for persons living in poverty? one must question if the plan violates any of these words. Under this resolution the plan must use the USFG for enforcement, must be substantial, and a social service must be increased.
