These are words that can be used to describe the tone of a piece of writing.

using humor, sarcasm, or exaggerated imitation to mock
dreamy, playful, fanciful in an amusing way
very serious, dark
demanding immediate attention
using the language of heroic tales to describe a mundane event
not including personal opinions or feelings
modest, shy, unconfident
the literal words spoken mean the opposite of the intended message
intended to teach, often in a preachy or condescending way
concerned with trivial things
the author is holding back hes/her feelings or using understatement
mournful, grieving in tone
showing contempt or lack of respect
extreme show of sadness
showing off one's knowledge
showing anger at unfair treatment
a tone of casual conversation
rudely casual & disrespectful
looking down on others
a tone of superior kindness or instruction
knowledgeable and wise
