Brainstorming is a technique that's been around for a long time. It's been used in all sorts of writing classrooms from students who are just beginning to write all the way up through high-level college courses.
With brainstorming comes some thoughts on how to do it properly and whether a particular type of brainstorming will work better than some other type. Bubble brainstorming is one of the best choices for a lot of people.
In this process, you start with one main idea – even a single word will do. From that point you branch out by circling that word and drawing lines radiating from it. These lines go to other circles, or bubbles, that relate to the idea you first had. This is important, because it shows how these issues interconnect.
You can also draw lines out from any of these other bubbles to further bubbles with related ideas in them. They can help you to make connections and get more ideas that will expand your train of thought and let you complete the picture you were trying to make with your first idea.
