1. alliteration The repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of nonrhyming words or syllables in neighboring words 2. Assonance Repetition of vowel sounds in neighboring words 3. ballad a narrative poem originally meant to be sung or recited 4. blank verse poetry or lines of dramatic verse written in unrhymed iambic pentameter. Each line of iambic pentameter has five units, or feet, with each foot made up of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable. 5.
