In the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, most civilization is lost and all hell breaks loose. To be civilized means to have a high stage of social and cultural development. In this novel, a plane crashes on a desert island and the survivors; a group of young schoolboys assemble on the beach and hope to be rescued soon. Sense of order quickly fades and their behavior starts to take a murderous, untamed path. Quickly things go bad on the island and even deaths are caused. The loss of civilization on the island leads to manipulation and separation.
