Turnip peroxidase is an enzyme widely used in plant and animal cells and catalyzes the oxidation of organic compounds by hydrogen peroxide. It is highly critical that this compound be removed from the cells. It is widely known that enzymes have an optimal environment. For turnip peroxidase that is a pH range of 6-7. This experiment hopes to look at the effect of changing pH levels on Turnip Peroxidase. Assuming peroxidase is an enzyme and therefore has an optimal pH (6-7), then when placed in different pH tolerances (2, 4, 6, 7, 13), then the rate of reaction would be less in basic substances than in acidic substances.
