What is Confucianism? Confucianism is a way of life. Sometimes viewed as a philosophy, sometimes as a religion, Confucianism is perhaps best understood as an all-encompassing humanism that neither denies nor slights Heaven. It has deeply influenced spiritual and political life in China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. A Non-theistic Religion Confucianism is definitively non-theistic. Confucianism is humanistic, and does not involve a belief in the supernatural or in a personal god. Branches or divisions Confucianism has no branches.
