CHAPTER 4 READING NOTES: THE EMPIRE IN TRANSITION Loosening of Ties A Decentralized Empire 50 years after Glorious Revolution, English Parliament established growing supremacy over the King. Under King George I & II, Prime Minister and Cabinet became the nation's real executives Administration of colonies was loose, decentralized, and insufficient because the Prime Minister and Cabinet were less inclined to tighten control over the empire because merchants learned this would disrupt trade with the colonies.
