Chapter 8 Key Question 1 Key Question 1 How is space politically organized into states and nations? Political geography is the study of how people have organized Earth?s land surface into countries and alliances, reasons underlying the observed arrangements, and the conflicts that result from the organization. A state is politically organized territory. Sovereignty is political & military power. Territorial integrity is the right to defend borders. Territoriality is the attempt by an individual of group to affect, influence or control people, phenomena, and relationships, by delimiting and asserting control over a geographic area but not necessarily with conflict.
