After he graduated from Harvard in 1671, he married Hannah, the daughter of John Hull and became the wealthiest in Massachusetts because he regarded public service as his natural expression. He managed a colony?s printing press acting concurrently as deputy of the General Court. His objective profession was being appointed as justice, which he did in 1692. He went on to serve the Council for 33 years and became the chief of justice of Massachusetts in 1728. People stated that even Sewall?s dullness had a character of its own, and he had the power to bring people together because of his characteristics.
