Integrals involving ax² + bx + c

Integrals involving ax² + bx + c:

In order to solve these type of integrals, complete the square of the quadratic equation, then the previous methods can be used to solve the integrals.

ex.

12moiii1

completing the square of x2 + 4x + 8 gives (x + 2)2 + 4

The integral becomes:

12moiii2

Substitute:
x + 2 = 2 tan
q
dx = 2 sec
q dq

Solve the integral, just like the previous example.
