AP World History Advice

So for all of you that have received 4/5s on the AP World History exam, do you have any tips? I'm one semester through the course, but my teacher isn't good at all. I received a 4 on the AP European History exam last year (but I had a good teacher). I am shooting for a 5 this year, but the problem is nothing I have learned this year I can retain! We have written one essay the entire year...but my teacher simply graded them without comments. I need help, I haven't learned anything all year! My textbook is The Earth and Its Peoples - 2nd Edition. I have the Barron's and Sparknotes study guides for world history. I have one semester til the exam, any advice on how to get a 5? What did you do to study?

I received a 5. Don't worry about the exam, the multiple choice is really easy. Don't read the quotes, sometimes you don't have to. Don't worry about the essays, if you know a little about whatever you're given, you'll probably do pretty well. The average score is usually a 1 or 2 anyway.

Can more people respond to this? I would like to know how to get a 5 on the exam also. Also, any advice on the essays?

I actually ended up getting  a 5 haha. I overcame the difficulties of having a bad teacher by studying my butt off. I went through 4 study guides (and did most of the practice tests in them): Barrons, 5 Steps to a 5 (my fav), 500 AP World Questions to Know by Test Day, and the Sparknotes AP Set. I didn't take notes on the book. I simply read my textbook and used by study guides to suppliment it. It was a lot of work, but it paid off !

Oh and as for the essays, just write to the prompt. When it says compare, compare AND contrast. ALWAYS use specific details.I didn't know one the essays given to me, but I wrote to the prompt and used specific details and I guess it worked. But don't fall into the trap of summarization of details, suppliment your details with good analysis. For DBQs, analyze analyze analyze! Analyze bias and point of view. And don't forget strong theses in all of your essays!

Thank you very much! Now, I have a whole year to study for it thankfully.
