10 Most Important things about Debate Joanne Lee April 25, 2011 Comm. G No matter how analytical and academic a debate is, the way you present it verbally, will have more effect on your adjudicator, and make it look like a much more powerful speech Just like it?s an important factor for different types of speech, maintaining eye contact with the people around the room is important. In case of debate, keep your main eye contact with your adjudicator. Of course look at the adjudicators when introducing and concluding your speech, and also the guests - they are part of the audience. Speak with pace. Speaking slowly can help sometimes. It is much better to speak slowly, carefully, and somewhat convincingly.

Should The Social Security Service Be Abolished? Many citizens of the United States of America believe we should abolish the social security system, and others do not. It can be described as a chaotic, unpromising, and fraudulent system that is very ineffective. It is also described as a secure, safe, and reliable system that protects our identities. The opinions over the abolishment of social security go two ways.

Rotating Regional Primaries Press will just give attention to the first region****(I?m Using - Brandon) Source: http://myweb.uiowa.edu/bhlai/caucus/norrander.pdf (Department of Political Science, University of Iowa, Iowa City) The regional primary format will not decrease the influence of the media. The press will continue to give the most attention to the first region, just as they now focus on Iowa and New Hampshire. Three decades of research on patterns of media coverage indicates the attractiveness of the first hard votes for presidential candidates as a news story (Robinson and McPherson 1977; Robinson and Sheehan 1983). The press, also, is unlikely to give equal coverage to the states within each region.

Debate Stock Issues These are the "stock issues" of Debate. Win these, win the round. 1. Inherency- What is happening right now (the status quo). Is the plan already happening? etc. 2. Harms- What is wrong with the status quo? 3. Solvency- Will the plan fix the harms of the status quo? 5. Advantages- What will the net gains of the plan be? 6. Topicality- Does the plan fit within the wording of the resolution? For example: if the Resolution is ?The United States Federal Government should substantially increase social services for persons living in poverty? one must question if the plan violates any of these words. Under this resolution the plan must use the USFG for enforcement, must be substantial, and a social service must be increased.
