So it's your last year of high school; you are ready to finish off high school and move on to bigger and better things, which in most cases means college. The general perception of senior for most people is the year when everything becomes easy, and when you can really enjoy your last year.

If you are anything like me, then you probably try to cram as much activities as you can into your schedule. Whether it be AP classes, volunteer work, leadership programs, sports, a job etc, you try to make the most out of our time during the year. While this will definitely help you prepare yourself for college and the real world, there is a whole lot of stress that comes with it. A fully packed schedule can be daunting to anybody, especially for students. But fear not, there are some things you can do to help you manage your time and stay on top of your schedule.
August is finally here. It is the last month of summer and it has the best weather (for California at least). As much fun August holds, it still marks the end of summer, and the arrival of the school year. For most of you out there, school does not just mean AP classes and sports, it also comes with the dreaded standardized tests. You know which ones I am talking about, the SATs and ACTs. Colleges use your scores on either of these tests to measure you up against other applicants, so they are crucial in the admissions process.
If your summer has been anything like my summer has been, it has not been very relaxing. Between summer school, volunteer work, ASB work, and AP summer assignments I have, summer has been nothing like what I imagined it would be back in May. Although I have decided to make the most of my summer academically, it definitely hasn't given me the rest and relaxation I believe everybody needs. So I have devised a plan in which anybody, including yourself, can enjoy that summer sun while still being able to be academically active. This plan can be divided into 3 main points:
Here is a fact that some of you may already know: what you get on an AP exam plays little into your college admissions. Think about it, all that hard work and preparation for that exam, and it is used for credit rather than admissions? How can that be fair? Well, it is true that although you better your chances by taking an AP course versus a regular class, that 5 you worked so hard for on AP Physics C is basically no better than a 3 when colleges are considering admission. Most colleges give credit for AP courses if you score a 3 or better on the exam, with some exceptions.
We all know that trying our best in anything we do is the best way to achieve success and reach our goals. But how do we exactly try our "best"? This is where many students get confused, how do we exactly set ourselves up for success? Well, there are different ways people can go about this.
Summer has finally arrived and the only thing on your mind is trying to relax after a grueling year of school. Many of you will put all your notes and binders somewhere in the deep crevices of your closet and never look at them until forced upon you; but think twice before you decided to put you brain into summer mode. While every one of you guys do deserve a long and relaxing break, keep in mind that it can be very easy to let that relaxation period get the better of us, and may we end up falling into what I like to call the "lazy pit".
