In the summer, arguably the busiest season of all for the ambitious high-school student, there is a plethora of activities one can choose from: from summer internships to volunteering at the local soup kitchen to one's first job, the possibilities are endless.

The question is, then, what to do?

While it may be tempting to cave in to parental pressure and just go for the most swanky-looking, prestigious program that will accept you, there are many other factors to consider when choosing your summer activities.

Extracurriculars. They are the bane of many student’s existences. They are many, varied, and ubiquitous on high school campuses throughout America from mid-afternoon through early evening.

Participation in sports, clubs, student societies, orchestral groups and part-time jobs line the resumes of many students.

AP exam season, like the common cold and hay fever, is a defining part of spring. When you see streets deserted after school and desk lamps still on into the wee hours of the morning, it’s obvious why: as soon as spring break is over, erstwhile AP students across the country have begun cramming in earnest for their May exams.
