Oedipus Rex Notes: Prologue: The palace of Oedipus in Thebes People are sitting around him Cadmus: in Greek mythology, a prince who killed a dragon and sowed its teeth, which turned into an army of men who fought one another; with the five survivors of the battle, Cadmus founded Thebes. Oedipus asks what the priests are praying for. The priest is answering that there is a plague in the city of Thebes, and that Thebes needs help. The priest says that Oedipus saved them, and asks for help once more. Oedipus says that no one?s pain is more than his own for he feels sympathy. Oedipus sends Creon to Delphi, the oracle. Oedipus promises that when Creon comes back, he will do everything physically possible to help. Creon asks if he can say the news in public.
