Research for Daniel Boone Boone was of English and Welsh ancestry. He was a ?Quaker?, and was persecuted for his dissenting beliefs. Because of this Boone and his family moved to Pennsylvania in 1713 to join William Penn and his colony of dissenters. Daniel Boone was the sixth of eleven children. Learned to shoot a rifle at the age of 12. Dramatized story about Daniel Boone and the panther. ?Daniel and some boys were hunting in the woods one day, when they heard the roar of a panther. All but Boone scattered. He valiantly raised his rifle and shot the beast just as the panther made the jump for him.? Shot his first bear at a young age. I?m related to him.
