After being purposely placed in the "quiet" office of Vice-President where the political bosses thought "Teddy" or "TR" would not cause any problems, Roosevelt became President. He was notorious for his impulsiveness and radical behavior. At 5-10 he used his Big-Stick policy in dealing with foreign affairs. He was an instrumental part in building the Panama Canal and enforcing the rigid Roosevelt Corollary.
