I really need help writing a thesis on these essay questions. I don't fully understand what the questions. The questions are :
1. The American Revolution should really be called the "British Revolution" because it marked changes in British colonial policy were responsible for final political division than were American actions. Assess the validity of this statement for the period of 1763- 1776.
2. This history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurption, all having in direct object, the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. Evaluate this accusation made against George III in the Declaration of Independence.
2. from 1650-1775
george wasn't directly responsible for everything:
the sugar act was secured by prime minister grenville as was the crackdown on the navigation acts. the infamous stamp act was also grenville's doing. the townshend acts were started by charles townshend. the tea act wasn't even a tax- it lowered the price of tea. the intolerable acts were more incendiary and were used to punish the colonists and was lord north's doing. he appointed a lot of these men and had a say in their actions.
george did not have complete tyranny. home rule did not work that well because of the large distance between the homeland and america.
there's more on george's part but i can't really find any... the declaration was really one sided though...
Thanks for the help Wingless. I really appreciate it.
