I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on some conservative goals and results of the American Rev. I'm using the idea that they wanted to be socially and politically like under Salutary neglect from Britain, but i dont have any other ideas. Anyone know? Thanks.

I dont really know why but i need a lot of help with this esasy. THanks for offering. As it stands, my essay is supporting a conservative movement towards independence. I am now discussing that Americans were fairly happy with life under salutary neglect from Britain. I have mentioned that each state had an individual standard for self-government during neglect. I am having trouble supporting my arguement and actually answering the Question: Explain why the independence movement was Conservative in GOALS AND RESULTS. I understand the results, like how the articles of confederation had set most power at state-level, a traditional idea while under salutary neglect, and the result of keeping old institutions, like the idea of congress. Please Help. Thanks.
Well, the colonists obviously liked salutary neglect and heres my analogy to help you fully understand this: salutary neglect is like you being able to do what ever you want while you still reap the benifits of your parents (for instance beign able to eat for free). But when salutary neglect ended, Great Britain (the parent) put a stop to the unruly child's freedom (America). Obviously the child would be upset at the abrupt end of its freedoms without any warning.
Also, in order to clearly understand this question you must understand the word "Conservative" which is a synonym for preserve. So basicly the question is "Why was the revolutionary war an attempt to preserve what America was during salutary neglect?"
