2 Year Course?

Hello everyone, Dave here, a new member of the boards how ya all doing? I am currently taking AP US History 1 in my highschool, but from what I can tell on these forums, most of you have a 1 year course and many are already on the Civil war and beyond? That surprised me a bit for my course extends two years, my sophmore and junior years, which can explain why you guys are up there and we're still on the Constitution. Does anybody else by any chance also have this course for two years? If so which book are you using? Most people here I've seen use the American Pagent, but that book in my school is reserved for Honor Students and below. Here we have some book plainly named "A History of The United States." But yah sorry for the long first post lol, I'll keep them all short from now on.

Hello there! :) It's interesting that you have this as a two year course, but it makes a lot of sense, I think, to space it all out a little. I think you get a better understanding of it because you have more time to go in-depth. As for me, I'm a junior and my APUSH course is one year. I also think this helps, simply because you don't have to reach too far back for information when AP exams roll around in May.

The book that we use is called The Enduring Vision. My APUSH teacher has a copy of American Pageant in her classroom as well as A History of the United States, though that's quite a general title and your book and this one may not be the same.

Anyways, I LOVE history, and the Constitution was my favorite part (so far, at least)! I think Alexander Hamilton was the best EVER; I mean, he started the whole party politics thing when the Congress split over his economic plan for the developing US! Enjoy it; it's much better than Andrew Jackson and the Second Party system. After the War of 1812, there's this big boring slump until the Mexican War and the Civil War, which I just took a test on two days ago.

Well, I hope you enjoy your class! :)

Alexander Hamilton is my favorite president.
"Because Alexander Hamilton was sex on legs, man."

That's interesting! I take a one year course and am at Civil War also. It would be nice to take a two year course though! You'd be able to get into it so much more. We just whiz by everything so quickly in my class, you don't really have time to appreciate it.

I had to take a two year sequence in global history... which I would have preferred to have as a one year course, and definitely would've preferred to have USHistory as a two year course. I do think that I would've found it difficult to keep all of my notes in a convenient place for when the AP exam rolled around. I'd love to be able to spend tons of time on certain time periods.....
