I am an AP Chem teacher in Colorado. I am now producing podcasts for my AP Chem students and thought that many of you might also want to access them. I am using the Zumdahl Text, but the topics should flow pretty well for any subjects.

You can also find me in google videos: Search: WPHS Chemistry
I hope this helps. If you find these podcasts useful email me

whoa. that's really cool!!
thanks Mr.Bergmann.
I wish my teacher can do this too
I have two questions. 1) When are you going to put up podcasts for chapters 7-9?
2) (In your example on podcast 6.1) When you are solving for the final temperature of a mixture why is it set up as 80-x and x-20. I thought the equation was always final minus the initial, but it seems to me that x is the final temperature but when you set it up as 80-x its saying initial minus the final?

Chapters 7-9 will be in the spring. I teach in a different order than most ap chem teachers. Sorry.
The reason I set it up the way I do is so that all the numbers can be positive. Since I know that final temp is between 20 and 80 degrees, setting it up that way makes for the numbers being positive. I don't think in terms of final - initial, but rather I like to have my students think about the problem and then make all of the values positive when solving the math. If there is a negative sign (say on delta H) then they have been taught to think about it as energy being released..
I hope this clarifies.
I did post quite a few more podcasts recently. The cover Kinetics and Equilbrium.
Thank you that does clarify things. Just to make sure when you do 80-x you are just saying that all of your numbers in the problem will be positive? The book I use also sets it as 80-x which confused me because I was thinking of it in terms of final-initial. Thanx

Nice site, I'll look at it more when I don't have so many posts to read. Thanks for sharing!

Great website. But on the conversion chart for CH. 1-3, c=2.98 x 10 ^ 8 m/s, not ^9. Otherwise great website. Thanks

I have made all of my podcasts available now for sale at: http://chempodcasts.com (You get a whole year's worth of podcasts for $25)
The podcasts are still there. Right now we send you a dvd with all of the podcasts. In the future we are going to go to some sort of a subscription basis....
sounds good to me

I really want appreciate you for this thread because I think this thread give lot of information to all the students who really need it. I am also a teacher of English and I think to find new teaching method is good for us and for the students also. And I feel that I might have a teacher like you. I wish that you will post more threads like this which gives knowledge to others.
