Please help me...

It seems like questions just get to me and I become curious and even frustrated because I do not know the answers.
So here are some questions I have been having and I would really qppreciate it if you guys could answer them and explain thoroughly.

1. I had a B in P.E. my first semester in high school, it was my first B ever. I am concerned about how much it affects me, my GPA in particular, because I really want to go to Johns Hopkins or Stanford, which are pretty competitive schools.

2. Which GPA do the colleges look at? The weighted or the cumulative?

3. Also about GPA, I have 4.0 weighted GPA and 3.28 cumulative, and I was wondering what are my chances of bring that up to 4.68 by my senior year? I am a freshman this year and I plan to take up to 10 AP classes and I am willing to work, except I do not know how hard they are though.

4. Should I take the SAT or the ACT, does one stand out more than the other? What should I know about them?

Thank you.

One B won't affect your GPA too much. As far as colleges looking at your grades in regards to which class you took; well, it's P.E., enough said.

Quote:2. Which GPA do the colleges look at? The weighted or the cumulative? Most colleges, as far as my knowledge goes, what your unweighted GPA.

It sounds like you have things planned out pretty well. I wouldn't worry about the 3.28 unweighted right now. Just do good in the classes you take and you'll see it go up in no time. As far as the 10 AP Classes, that is quite a load and colleges will defiantly look at that and take it into consideration. I'd suggest having an extra-circulars activity in the mix somewhere, band, sports, or otherwise.

This depends on each indvidual school. A lot of colleges/universities will accept both the SAT and ACT, you just have to choose one. Some require one or the other while others require both. Look up the requirements at the college(s) you are interested in.
