DBQ thesis help (civil war/reconstruction)

Hi! I have a thesis prepared but I feel like it is too vague, or it is missing something but I don't know how to make it better.

Prompt: To what extent do the events of the Civil War and Reconstruction constitute a political and social revolution?

My Thesis: Several events during the Civil War and Reconstruction created a drastic change in the status quo both politically and socially, but certain measures offset the results of both the war and reconstruction; therefore these actions were only somewhat revolutionary.

I also can't seem to word it very clearly. please help me! :]

Here is how I would change it:
Several events during the Civil War and Reconstruction created a drastic change in the status quo both politically and socially, but certain measures offset their results.

However, I also feel that with the thesis you should include which events (or legislation) in particular you will be discussing. This way the reader knows what to expect. It also helps keep your essay on track.

While I do not fully agree with your argument, I do see how one could prove it fairly easily (14th/15th amendments (dealt with by the black codes), Plessy v. Ferguson, etc.). Good Luck, I am sure you will do just fine.
