Ptolemy- (1517?) Created geocentric system; universe revolves around the Earth, moving ? enclosed spheres, with heaven on the outside. Copernicus- Came up with the idea of a heliocentric universe, accounted for many problems ? with the Ptolemaic System. Brahe- Recorded extensive amounts of astronomical observations and data, constructed ? scientific instruments. Kepler- Brahe?s assistant believed in heliocentric universe, used his data to find evidence of ? Copernicus? theory; found that orbits of start and planets were elliptical, not circular. Galileo- Looked into space with a telescope, found further evidence of a heliocentric universe, ? made knowledge of the theory more widespread and popular, argued that everything
