ok so we got an essay on the American Imperialism endevours and i need some help. the essay needs to answer all of the following areas:

 Explain the perceived need for America to be an imperial nation.
 What are the ramifications of American Imperialism?
 Pick a significant imperial endeavor by the United States and explain how it allowed America to achieve the status of a World power.

I already know that the Spanish American war was pretty much the main imperialistic event. theres also the filipino's and cubans i know of. anyone have any thoughts on the 1st aspect as well as the second??? thats mainly what i need help in. thanks.:D
