Classical China VS. Classical India

I have to write a compare and contrast essay on classical china to classical india. I'm having a complete brain fart and don't feel that my opening paragraph is strong at all...any suggestions?

During the classical period, China as a whole underwent many changes from its earlier river valley civilizations. The Chinese culture began to develop a more unified government system that was connected more directly to Chinese philosophy, economics, and the family structure. In India a lot of energy was focused on religion and the social structure. However, both civilizations shared patriarchal views and were agricultural societies. These characteristics, along with many more make these two societies unique and full of rich culture.
