The changes in the global economic order today are as significant for the world economy and international relations. History is witness to the fact that Houston has emerged victorious after enduring immense economic instability. Houston has a great advantage in the arenas of energy, high technology, aerospace and medicine but still has a long way to go to become a world leader in these areas. There is an urgent need to leverage these for the progress of Houston’s economy. The Center for Houston’s Future is dedicated towards this goal. It is an organization dedicated to developing strategies and acting for the future of the region.
The Center for Houston’s Future has identified four areas that must be addressed to advance Houston’s global competitiveness:
1) Supporting innovation with venture capital development
2) Human capital and workforce development
3) Regional economic development strategies
4) Leveraging global connections into Global Corporate Services in the areas of finance, accounting, law, and media/advertising.
