HELP! A question from the American Pageant (13th Edition) book!

I think it's somewhere in Chapter 8 - America Secedes from the Empire. I read the whole chapter but could not find the answer. So I need some help from you guys.

The question is.......

"For what reason did Britain think it to be to their long-term advantage to insist on protection of Loyalists as part of the Treaty of Paris 1783?"
