Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis- Freud believed the patient?s free associations, resistances, dreams, and transferences- and the therapist?s interpretations of them- released previously repressed feelings, allowing the patient to gain self-insight Resistance- blocking from consciousness of anxiety-laden material
