DYNAMICS Lecture Notes 1 DYNAMICS Dynamics is about the relation between force and motion. 1. Force: A force is a pull or push on an object. A force can cause a change in the shape or velocity of the object, start it to move or stop the motion. Net Force (or Resultant Force): is the vector sum of all forces acting on that object. Fnet=F1+F2+F3+? (vector sum) Unit of force: is Newton (N) or Dyne (dyn) {This part does not have to be made written, or can be shortened at will, if we are sure that the students learned how to draw forces when we learned equilibrium, but if most of them did not master the subject, there is no point in proceeding in dynamics without a firm understanding of concept of force} Types of forces: A) Contact forces:
