"Industrial Transformation" Several of key benefits?of the Industrial Revolution in the U.S. during this period?were pointed out in the discussion--inventions, new technology, modern conveniences, economic growth, jobs, etc., although most comments concentrated on rail industry. ? The railroad was indeed one of the first key industries, which not only became a transformative industry in itself, but also helped develop related industries such as steel, mining, etc. One of the primary economic benefits of the?railroad, in addition to creating jobs, services, and general economic opportunity, was connecting East and West, creating a?national market, which gave a tremendous boost to the manufacture, sale, and transport of goods (not to mention people) across the country.
