Visual sccade: The uneven & healting motions of the eyes as they track across edges & differing contrast ( as occurs when a person reads words on a page) -By passing a seris of fine vertical strips past a neonates eyes such a saccade/ Optokinetic nystagmus can be elicited -The nystagmus ouccrs because the eyes reflexively attempts to focus on each strip that moves through the visual field
