Computers In standby mode, a typical desktop computer may use less than 10 watts per hour as opposed to more than 200 watts per hour if it's engaged in heavy use (?Rigg?). I have currently one computer in my house, but my brother owns a laptop also. My computer or desktop is used pretty much ? of the day but is kept on usually all day and night, with the computer monitor turned off. My brother I would say is on his laptop most of the day because he uses it in college and when he gets home, but when he is at work he obviously doesn?t use his laptop. Works Cited Rigg, Sarah.
