Allie Kaltenbach The Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 were the result of many years of built up tension between the Federalists and Democratic Republicans. Each party interpreted the constitution differently, leading to the inability to agree on many issues that arose including how to deal with international matters. The overall outcome was the passing of these acts by the Federalists.
