Culture Colonial America was a melting pot of cultures. The different regions of the colonies had different characteristics. The South had large gaps in social order and revolved around agriculture. The North was mostly based on industry, with a tightly knit society. Different pastimes also evolved in different regions. Though colonies had differences, they had important similarities that would help unite them.
