Life on the Trail Make sure to read The Overland Trail: Sharing the Burden, before beginning this project. The diaries and journals will provide a well balanced background on westward expansion. You will be creating a character that will be leaving her/his home and traveling to the west in search of a better life. You must complete the following tasks in order to survive! Create a character that will be moving west. Discuss why he/she is moving (is it for a better life, chance to own a farm, escaping something from the past, etc.), where is he or she moving from, who is traveling with her/him, and what supplies will be taken. Create at least one traveling companion that will attempt the journey. Be descriptive and creative!
