Because this list is very long, it would help to break the list down in digestible groups of tens.

SAT Writing Tips and Common Mistakes Flashcards

838811427Identifying Sentence Errors-Look for Verb Agreement= In some sentences the SAT uses BOYSFAN to throw us off on whether or not the agreement needs to be singular or plural. Just know that with "and" its becomes plural, "nor" will be singular since it divides the two names. -Parallelism of Structure= This is where if the beginning of the sentence is not underlined and is formatted in a specific manner, the preceding clause must follow said structure, it must "parallel"
838811428Identifying Sentence Errors Cont...-Subject Agreement= This is where in which the pronouns must be the same, meaning first person must be first person throughout, 2nd to 2nd, 3rd to 3rd. So if the first part of the sentence says "you" the rest of the pronouns must follow the second person. Idiomatic Expressions= These are where certain phrases and words in the English vernacular can be used incorrectly and the SAT wants you to identify them and know the correct expression. (Some examples are on the Idiomatic Expression set)
838811429Improving Paragraphs-Read the paragraph thoroughly to determine the overall meaning and understand the general structure of the passage BEFORE you read the questions, for you will not remember the questions while you read, well not all at least. -Narrow down the options by trying them all, if you do not have time look through all and pick the one you feel is correct and plug it in to see if you are correct. If you have no clue omit, but do not omit more than 2 or 3 on each section.
838816187Improving SentencesThis section is all about knowing your grammar rules. So refer to the SAT Grammar review Set in this class.
