You’ve seen them before. They are the ones that incessantly abuse the horror that is known as Picnik.

In many highschools, Homecoming is the first main event of the school year. It’s usually a big deal. There is a court, there is a fancy venue chosen and a King and Queen are crowned. So why is it that my highschool has such an apathetic view on Homecoming?
So, dear readers, I’d just thought that I should inform you about how hell year is turning out for me. It’s been about a month since school began and there’s definitely been ups and downs, but I’d like to say mostly downs.
Also, tip: DO NOT TAKE SAT PREP DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. Yeah, I had Princeton Review from September 1st to October 8th and sitting in prep for three hours Tuesdays and Thursdays and testing Saturdays are the LAST THING you’d want.
What Goes On: Winter Track Meets
Winter track meets are often invitationals where many teams from schools across your state come to compete. Dual meets held at your school usually do not happen as the outside track will be snow covered or frozen. Here are some examples of events held at the invitationals:
When traveling more than four hours on a plane, things can get boring and uncomfortable, but there are a few things you can do to make the trip more enjoyable. Whether it takes eight hours or eighteen, here are indispensible items you should bring in your carry on:
Nothing beats touring Europe over the summer and nothing would be worse if you didn’t leave prepared. In addition to different power outlets and driving on the opposite side of the road, there are cultural differences and safety issues to be aware about. Two years ago, I went to Paris, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Cologne and Brussels and this July I’m going to Paris, Rome, Florence and Venice. I won’t say I’m a genius when it comes to packing and prepping for overseas vacations, but here are a few things to bear in mind:
Summer projects, the most dreaded assignment of them all and perhaps the cruelest. How can one be expected to sit and read “My Antonia” while the sun shines brightly outside and knowing that everyone is doing something more interesting than you are? For some unlucky students, summer projects don’t stop at summer reading.
Most AP classes require a project or packet or research paper of some sort to be completed in the summer and will be counted for some type of grade in the first marking period.
So your inner geek has convinced you to take on a couple (or maybe all) honors classes or even AP classes next year huh? Or maybe you have a friend who’s leaving you to take said classes. Maybe you have several friends that have signed up for totally different courses than you did. Horrible? Yeah. Does it have to be like this for the whole year? No, no and no.
So you’ve decided to summon up the courage and take on APUSH1 (Advanced Placement US History 1) as a sophomore? Or maybe, you can’t decide whether to take it or not? APUSH1 is usually, at least in my school here in Jersey, the first AP you can take. It may be a bit unnerving taking on your first AP class ever, but your teacher will understand that the transition from regular/honors level classes to an AP level class can be difficult and you’ll start off easy. Based off of my experience, here is what you can expect next year:
