I have to right a 5 page essay on African Americans in a southern society in the 1700s. If any one has any input, facts, opinions, on this subject please help. If you have any good sites where i can find info please let me know also.

Wirte about plantation life. Most were slaves, whose children were born as such, and did labor for the owner. Contrary to beliefs, many masters were very kind to their slaves, but torture and punishment was still widespread.
Make sure you address the obvious, but do get into some of the things about the freed slaves. I've never read anything about that, and personally I think it might be interesting.
