That's a huge and broad topic. I could be writing for days on the War of 1812. Do you know anything about the DBQ question? Then I could probably help. : )

And even if you have no clue, what are the main topics he's been stressing lately? And if I can ask a really dumb question, what does DBQ stand for?

a DBQ is a document-based question. it is a major part of the AP US test. u are give 2 hours to write one DBQ and two other essays. the DBQ is the most most important one; it poses a question and gives you about 8-10 documents to read that you need to use to support ur answer. the answer is not directly in the documents themselves, rather u have to use ur outside knowledge to fully answer the question and merely use the documents to support ur adrguement.

and as the for a DBQ on the War of 1812, it might have something to with the political, social, and economics after-effects of the war. but it is a bit broad to know for sure.

Thank you so much, nerdpride! I was getting really confused about what you guys were talking about.

no problem =) my AP US teacher has pretty much drilled AP test information into our heads and always reminds us about the importance of the DBQ

Well, my teacher just gave me the exact topic for this DBQ yesterday. Basically, it's saying that the war resulted in a united nation confident of its abilities and optimistic about its future. I'm supposed to agree or disagree with it. Any thoughts?

Personally, I'd disagree with it, since the political parties were still pretty divided after the war, and I seem to be a pessimist by nature.
