Ok. I have to write a DBQ on the following topic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The traditional rural nature of American society was threatened in the early 19th century by certain economic forces that prompted a market and industrial revolution.
Utilizing the documents and your knowledge of the period 1815-1860, analyze those forces and their impact on American society and the economy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im not sure of what the "forces" are. I need 2 of them.
I am thinking of using transportation and technology improvements, but are those actually forces? Im not sure.
So could someone help me. Maybe I'm interpreting the topic wrong. idk
If you have any ideas just leave them
thanks in advance
Here's a short list...
Factory systems
Transportation advances
Population Growth
Reform movements (including education reform, but mainly higher education and they started in late 1830's -1840's)
Hope this helps!

yeah transportation
we just had this discussion in history.
They built many canals and laid many railroad tracks.
stuff that took weeks to get to one place only took days now.
also the factories ie lowell mill girls led to conformity in the workplace leading to drunkeness and lack of skilled worksmen
Could U.S. National Bank be one? Well, Jackson destroyed it and then the Panic of 1837 happened...
Ohh...and maybe the Civil War? Even though it ended in 1865, the winner of the war determined the economy of America (Toffler's 3 wave theory - read it!). Since the North won, America prompted to the Industrial Revolution. If South won, would the economy have changed to agriculture?
Am I doing this right
The below statement is false.
The above statement is true.

Yes, the bank. But like I said, it was a short list. I've got like 20 topics posted now in various threads...Not sure how I looked over it though...
Oh well, thanks for noticing that AP_Work_R. But no, the Civil War wouldn't count because it began in 1860. HOWEVER, the economic factors leading to the war is fair game, of course it's mainly slavery, but there are others. There's a post about that somewhere, but I haven't got time to look it up.
But you're helping the right way, just gotta pay attention to those time periods...they always threw me off. Ergo, I always answer questions with a book nearby ;) .
